POSITION TITLE: Certified Athletic Trainer
The Chapin School, an independent K-12 day school for girls located in New York City, is seeking a Full-Time Certified Athletic Trainer for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Certified Athletic Trainer position is a 10-month position, working Monday through Friday, typically between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and occasional Saturdays as needed. This individual reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Athletics.
Chapin's Athletic Trainer will be:
A professional who demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Athletic trainers must have knowledge about a large range of medical problems. Assessment and evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be needed.
Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
Should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to students, medical professionals, staff, and families.
Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
The Athletic Trainer's specific duties and responsibilities will include:
Provide preventative care to The Chapin School student-athletes and support coaches by caring for athletes’ sports-related injuries.
Administer clinical evaluations and subsequent treatment and rehabilitation programs.
Assist Head Athletic Trainer with assessing, treating, and managing concussions utilizing the Sway System for concussion management.
Partner with the athletic department regarding on-field protocols such as severe weather plans, concussion protocol, emergency action plans, etc.
Supervise Middle and Upper School practices and home athletic contests.
Verify, review, and organize student physicals, health records and parental release forms in conjunction with Head Athletic Trainer and School Nurse.
Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming training room.
Work closely with the athletic department administration and head athletic trainer in determining safety and medical concerns for athletics events.
Assist Head Athletic Trainer with the communication and implementation of special partnerships as it pertains to Sports Medicine and Sports Performance.
Assist with oversight and maintenance of Fitness Studio.
Assist Head Athletic Trainer with emergency equipment check and inventory management.
Other responsibilities as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Physical Requirements of the Athletic Trainer:
Physical requirements include lifting (up to 75 pounds), carrying, driving, climbing, the ability to move distances within and between buildings and fields, and the ability to work in varying heat and cold temperatures.
Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in the given field.
NATA BOC certification and NPI Number Required
NYS Licensure
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related course of study.
Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Certification (CSCS) preferred.
