In 1968, a dedicated group of Orlando community leaders led by the late Reverend Canon A. Rees Hay wanted to provide a quality, independent secondary education for students in Central Florida. As a result, they established Trinity Preparatory School in grades 6 through 12. A full-time position at Trinity Prep consists of serving as an advisor, teaching 5 classes, and assuming additional duties as assigned. For example, all faculty are expected to have a plus one, which is a major leadership responsibility outside of the classroom. This teacher-coach collaborates with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs to ensure students are prepared for the next grade. Trinity Prep coaches encourage multi-sport participation as it assists in a student athletes overall wellness.
Position Summary:
Trinity Prep seeks applications for an orchestra director who is an experienced performer dedicated to teaching and performing at all levels. With a wide interest in music of all periods, this leader organizes and plans performances for all school related events. Through this educator’s guidance, the pedagogical development of the strings program will inspire and excite students to nurture their love and passion for collaborative music making and performance excellence.
Trinity Prep has a one-to-one laptop program, and students use technology in a variety of ways in every discipline. They integrate electronic textbooks, utilizing Google Docs and Forms for assignments, and employ blended models to ignite teacher-student interaction. Using our learning management system Canvas and participating in the advisory program are required professional standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Orchestra Director, you will:
Teach five levels of orchestra classes that range from beginning to advanced levels of proficiency, determined by the department chair.
Manage orchestral performances held outside of school day and collaborate for special chapels, school performances, and other areas as needed.
Develop and supervise community outreach programs and special projects, arts partnerships, and guest artist development, and organize festivals/performance trips.
Assist student performers, their families, and our college counseling office with potential college recruitment activities under the supervision of the Fine Arts department.
Collaborate with the department chair, fine arts faculty, and administrators to develop curriculum and guide pedagogy. .
Manage the maintenance and upkeep of the instruments and equipment used by the strings program.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Teaching and Learning Responsibilities:
Prepare lesson materials, assess student growth, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students as deemed appropriate.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
Evaluate students' progress and provide feedback.
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs, when necessary.
Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs.
Nurture a group of assigned advisory students for the purpose of advising them on academics and social, future-planning issues as well as acting as the liaison between the parents and school.
Serve as a member of a grade-level team and support all related activities (i.e. retreats, dances, activities, etc.) as a sponsor or a chaperone.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree and professional performing experience preferred from an accredited institution or the international equivalent with a focus in a related field. Bachelor's degree acceptable.
Minimum of 5 years prior experience in public and/or independent schools, with a strong background in curriculum and instruction.
Promotes an inclusive environment that values, encourages, supports differences, and articulates an authentic commitment to diversity in thought and perspective while holding others accountable for the same.
Possess strong leadership in the areas of pedagogy, classroom management, and high musicianship standards.
Demonstrate effective leadership while building relationships with students, parents, and staff to effectively supervise and motivate students
Possess a high level of independence in order to manage multiple tasks; meet schedules and timelines; and maintain records.
Exceptionally capable in both written and oral communication.
Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
Proven success working collaboratively with other members of the fine arts department and school personnel.
Must be able to pass a Jessica Lunsford Level II background check and drug test.
Certifications Required:
CPR/AED/First Aid are able to be gained upon hiring.
