Wilmington Friends School is a Preschool to 12 Quaker, college preparatory, day school located in Wilmington, Delaware enrolling 700 students.
This position involves teaching Upper School Spanish (potential for various levels) as a part-time instructor during the 2026-27 school year. The position may also include some advisory duties. A highly qualified candidate is one who...
Demonstrates a commitment to proficiency-based, communicative language instruction aligned with ACTFL standards.
Maintains consistent and purposeful use of the target language (Spanish) in the classroom to support student language acquisition.
Designs and implements interactive, student-centered lessons and proficiency-oriented assessments to measure growth and provide feedback.
Understands the developmental needs of the early adolescent and adolescent child.
Will bring imagination, a positive attitude, and energy to work with students.
Uses a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and respond to different learning styles.
Collaborates well with colleagues to support curriculum development, oversee scope and sequence, and maintain program coherence.
Has experience teaching or can learn to teach a variety of levels of Spanish.
Integrates technology thoughtfully to enhance language learning and communication.
Will contribute in other significant ways to the Wilmington Friends School community.
Seeks to serve on a faculty that contributes significantly to school governance in division-level groups and through committee work.
Preferably has graduate coursework or an advanced degree in Spanish and/or world language pedagogy.
