Wilmington Friends School is a Preschool to 12 Quaker, college preparatory, day school located in Wilmington, Delaware enrolling 700 students.
This position involves teaching Upper School Spanish (potential for various levels) as a part-time instructor during the 2026-27 school year. The position may also include some advisory duties. A highly qualified candidate is one who...
- Demonstrates a commitment to proficiency-based, communicative language instruction aligned with ACTFL standards.
- Maintains consistent and purposeful use of the target language (Spanish) in the classroom to support student language acquisition.
- Designs and implements interactive, student-centered lessons and proficiency-oriented assessments to measure growth and provide feedback.
- Understands the developmental needs of the early adolescent and adolescent child.
- Will bring imagination, a positive attitude, and energy to work with students.
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and respond to different learning styles.
- Collaborates well with colleagues to support curriculum development, oversee scope and sequence, and maintain program coherence.
- Has experience teaching or can learn to teach a variety of levels of Spanish.
- Integrates technology thoughtfully to enhance language learning and communication.
- Will contribute in other significant ways to the Wilmington Friends School community.
- Seeks to serve on a faculty that contributes significantly to school governance in division-level groups and through committee work.
- Preferably has graduate coursework or an advanced degree in Spanish and/or world language pedagogy.
