Salary Details:
Archaeological Technician has a pay range of $32.00-$36.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications. Mileage reimbursement is available, but we do not typically offer hotel or per diem unless the project site is more than 90 minutes’ drive away. Benefits include 401(k) with employer match and sick leave accrual. We are small and growing firm with a friendly and supportive working environment.

Archaeological/Historical Consultants seeks on-call archaeological technicians to join our team. We are a full-service cultural resources management firm based in Oakland, California, with work primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding counties.
Your responsibilities will include:
Archaeological monitoring, testing, and surveys
Recording soil profiles, artifacts, and features
Preparing daily work reports
Collaboration with Native American monitors
Required Qualifications:
A BA or MA in archaeology or anthropology, or equivalent work experience.
Field experience in archaeological excavation, survey, or monitoring
Familiarity with the archaeology of northern California
Excellent observational and note-taking skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Acrobat
The ability to walk on rough terrain, stand for long periods, and lift loads up to 40 pounds
A current California driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 2 hours to field sites
A commitment to working respectfully with Native American tribes and preserving the confidentiality of archaeological resources.
Desirable Qualifications:
Certified as a Registered Archaeologist (RA) or Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA)
Knowledge of CEQA and NHPA Section 106 processes
OSHA 10-hour safety training
Prior experience working with San Francisco Bay Area Native American tribes
Experience with burial excavation
Coursework or field experience in geoarchaeology or soil science
