Learning Strategist Teacher (Middle and Senior Grades)
Saltus Grammar School is seeking a Learning Strategist Teacher to join the Learning Support Team. The successful candidate will work with students and faculty in the Middle and Senior School providing individualized student learning support services.
Responsibilities include:
Creating and implementing Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) and carrying out activities/programs for both individual students and groups.
Being familiar with British Columbia Curriculum in support of students meeting grade level learning standards.
Monitoring, reviewing and modifying interventions, strategies and accommodations to student ILPs.
Collaborating with teachers, students, parents to identify strategies that support student progress.
Working with students in and out the classroom (small group and 1-on-one pull-out) to support their learning needs, with the implementation and development of learning strategies for both support and extension.
Provide training and assistance to teachers on differentiation within the classroom.
Providing assessment and testing invigilation.
Applying for examination accommodations.
Providing regular feedback to students, teachers and parents, to enable them to achieve maximum benefit from their learning support experience.
Liaising and meeting with various stakeholders and agencies to monitor and support progress and ensure documentation is up-to-date and shared appropriately.
Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders and agencies in support of student learning.
Participating in MTSS, team and departmental meetings to ensure students are supported.
Administrative support as required.
Providing a safe and caring learning environment that inspires students to develop their learning.
Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Special Education or equivalent.
Certificate of Competence in Education Testing (Level A) is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with students.
Qualifications or experience in language-based learning difficulties.
Must be licensed by or qualified to be licensed by the Bermuda Educators Council.
Strong understanding of developmental needs of students, social emotional as well as intellectual.
Thorough knowledge and experience writing Individual Learning Plans, implementing accommodations, modifications and assessment strategies.
Creative and innovative approach to learning within an inquiry-based setting.
Proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
Demonstrate professional competence, integrity and ethics.
Possess have excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate.
Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the principles of independent education and be willing to contribute to extracurricular activities and the broader School life.
Demonstrated understanding of and a commitment to the Mission, Vision, Core Values and Strategic Priorities of Saltus.
Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and strive for positive relations with all students, parents and colleagues alike.
