Expected Work Days/Hours: M-F / 3:00-6:00 pm during the school year, longer during short term sessions; hours change during the summer break
Job Summary:
Provide programming and coaching that includes but not limited to motivation, education, and guidance on proper conditioning, resistance training, strength training, mobility and recovery to help athletes develop to the best of their ability
Supervisory Responsibilities: Fitness Center
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and implements strength training and conditioning programs for the pre-season, in-season and off-season for all school female and male athletic programs
Works in cooperation with the Athletic Trainer in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes
Facilitates a collaborative relationship with the coaches
Develops a system for tracking athlete progress in conjunction with the coaches
Conduct an annual needs analysis of the fitness center and recommends possible changes
Maintains a safe and orderly fitness center
Reinforces expectations of athlete conduct in the fitness center
Provides faculty with weekly fitness boot camp classes during the school year
Successfully completes training and educational courses as required
Required Skills and Abilities:
A strong working knowledge and teaching skill in analysis and techniques of strength training
Ability to understand, apply and use computers and software applications
Maintain a harmonious relationship with other staff members
Knowledge of safety practices
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior strength and conditioning experience at the high school or college level required
CSCS certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association required
Working Conditions:
Work is expected to be done primarily indoors in the fitness center
Outdoor work may be required based on space needed for specific training
Physical Requirements:
The Strength and Conditioning Coach will be frequently required to stand and move for extended periods of time
Ability to perform specific drills, lifts, and movements may be necessary at times

Paideia is a K-12 college preparatory school of 999 students in the Emory University area of Atlanta; the elementary school enrolls 333 students. The elementary program includes twelve full-day, self-contained classrooms grades K-6. There are two teachers in each class of twenty-six to twenty-eight children. Teachers work together as lead teacher and assistant or as two co-lead teachers. Other than classes with specialists including art, music, physical education, and library, children remain with their own teachers throughout the day.
