Founded in 1889, the New York Military Academy is located in the scenic Hudson Valley region at Cornwall on Hudson, New York. We are a college preparatory institution that integrates academic excellence with character development and leadership training.
Position Overview:
NYMA is actively seeking an experienced Science Teacher who has a deep knowledge in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, and other related subjects. The ideal candidate should be passionate about fostering a love for science among high school students and should be able to teach at an AP (Advanced Placement) level.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align with curriculum guidelines.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Provide guidance to students in their academic pursuits and mentor them in their academic growth.
Administer assessments and provide timely feedback to students.
Collaborate with fellow faculty and participate in professional development opportunities.
Maintain classroom discipline and implement NYMA's classroom management strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Prior teaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
Proven ability to teach AP level classes.
Strong classroom management abilities.
Certification in teaching preferred
Passionate about working in an academic setting and molding young minds.
