For the 26-27 school year, we are seeking an Early Childhood Director who is a hands-on and committed leader, strong collaborative and builder of people, possesses pedagogical high standards, and is passionate about the benefits of immersion education.
Major responsibilities:
Develop a Curriculum and Program: Lead the development of an immersion early childhood program and curriculum. Work closely with teachers to guide in lesson planning, and ensure that classroom activities maximize learning and development of children.
Oversee literacy development in young children
Support and guide social emotional development of children: help ensure that observational feedback in ECE among teachers is consistent and support the development of each child.
Oversee staff: Interview, hire and train staff, making sure that roles and responsibilities are clear and followed. Observe classroom teaching, model, provide feedback and support teachers as needed. Complete performance evaluations, overall staffing plan, and address issues working with HR and the principal. Develop professional development training and make referrals for relevant outside services.
Ensure licensing compliance: ensure that staff and facilities are in compliance with licensing regulations. Be the point of contact for inspections as needed.
Manage ECE facilities: ensure that the facility is safe, clean and well stocked. Ensure that the classroom is set up to facilitate positive interactions and that materials are organized and properly stored. Identify needs for repair or replacement of furniture and furnishings.
Manage ECE budget: plan purchases with staff and ensure spending is within budget
Support marketing and admissions in ECE: work with admissions to evaluate prospective students for admission in early childhood. Support events and programs to attract potential students.
Parent communication: capable of written and verbal communication with parents to report on progress and address learning or behavioral issues. Develop ECE policies for the school and ensure compliance. Manage assessment and communication platforms for teachers.
Be a member of the administrative team in addressing strategic issues, supporting the principal as needed on administrative tasks, and addressing HR issues
Qualifications:
Minimum 5-8 years classroom teaching in an early childhood classroom
Staff supervisory experience
Master's degree in early childhood or related field
Understanding of literacy development
Interest/knowledge of Immersion practices
Experience with students with special needs
Experience supporting admissions and marketing efforts
Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to professionally and effectively communicate with educators, parents and community leaders.
Excellent written and oral communication skills– clear, direct communication with tact and professionalism
Language skills – Strong English skills required. Mandarin or Spanish preferred, but not required
