Concord Academy Summer Camp is looking for a patient, safety-conscious, and enthusiastic Archery Instructor to lead our range this summer. This candidate won’t just be teaching campers how to hit a bullseye; they will also be helping campers build focus, confidence, and discipline. Candidate must be available to work the majority of our 8-week season as well as attend all pre-camp staff trainings. This is a full-time seasonal position.
Minimum Qualifications
Previous archery experience required (must be documented)
Certification in archery instruction required (e.g., USA Archery Level 1 or 2) (or willingness to obtain prior to camp start date)
Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a busy camp setting
Experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting preferred
Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Good character, integrity and adaptability
Enthusiasm, patience, self-control and sense of humor
College aged or College graduates preferred
Reports to: Specialist Unit Leader & Director of Summer Programs
General Responsibility
The summer camp archery instructor is responsible for planning, teaching, and supervising safe and engaging archery activities for campers of varying ages and skill levels. The role emphasizes safety, skill development, sportsmanship, and fostering confidence in a fun, supportive camp environment.
Specific Responsibilities
Be punctual and prepared for your daily activities
Lead daily archery sessions for campers (elementary through teen - age groups).
Provide clear instruction to archery techniques, range safety rules, and proper equipment use.
Maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols and camp policies.
Inspect, maintain, and properly store archery equipment (bows, arrows, targets, safety gear)
Adapt lessons to accommodate different skill levels and abilities.
Promote teamwork, positive sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Supervise campers during activity periods and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
Assist with special events and camp-wide activities as needed.
Communicate effectively with fellow staff and report any incidents or concerns promptly.
Periodically assist with lunch and carline duties
Attend pre-season staff training
Essential Functions
Ability to communicate and work with other staff and provide necessary instruction to campers
Abilities to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve camper development objectives
Ability to work with different age and skill levels
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to activities
Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
Job Requirements:
Available 8:00am-4:30pm on Mondays and 8:15am-4:30pm, Tuesday – Friday
First Aid and CPR certification, strongly encouraged
Some high-level activity which may include running, dancing, swimming and jumping
Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing stairs
Frequent talking, listening, walking, sitting, and standing
Submit all required paperwork on time.
Attend all pre-camp trainings and orientation
Perform other duties as assigned.
Dates of Employment:
Staff Training: June 15 – 18, and June 20, 2026
Summer Camp: June 22 – August 14, 2026
Camp Clean-up: August 15, 2026
Salary Range: $4,800 - $5,500; based on experience
