The School’s facilities include 25 academic and operational buildings (265,000 sq ft of space under roof), numerous athletic fields and courts, and three parking lots.
Position Description
Hopkins School seeks a self-motivated and experienced Athletic Facilities Associate (AFA) to support the regular upkeep of athletic facilities and grounds and equip them appropriately for each successive season and game. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Athletic Facilities Associate plays a vital role in ensuring Hopkins’ athletic fields, event spaces, and buildings are safe, functional, and prepared for school athletic programs. This position requires a hands-on, collaborative individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a dynamic and physically active environment.
Requirements
The Athletics Facilities Associate must be a team player who possesses good communication skills (including the use of walkie-talkie) and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques as needed. The Associate must be willing to take direction from the supervisor regarding daily, weekly, and seasonal tasks and priorities and be able to act independently and reliably in carrying out assigned tasks. The position requires skillful operation of a variety of machinery, including mowers, field lining, machines, tractors, and floor cleaners.
While typical daily hours will be 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, the Associate must be able to work a flexible schedule (including occasional weekend and evening hours) as well as overtime as needed to accommodate the School’s needs. All overtime must be approved in advance by the Director of Athletics.
At the mutual discretion of the Athletic Director and Director of Facilities, the Athletic Facilities Associate might also be called upon from time to time to assist with various non-athletics activities and events, including snow removal and event preparations.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may involve exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise.
