The Hewitt School is seeking a K-4 math specialist for the 2026-2027 academic year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentor and coach lower school teachers in the implementation of inclusive and differentiated teaching practices supported by math education research
Push into classrooms to work alongside homeroom teachers to differentiate instruction
Serve as an interventionist, working with individual students or small groups for support or enrichment during the school day, and before or after school when necessary
Attend and participate in regular meetings with K-4 classroom teachers and student support team to discuss student progress and development
Attend and participate in weekly planning meetings for each grade level to maintain the scope and sequence of lower school math curriculum
Support homeroom teachers in administering formative assessments as well as standardized tests; assist with analyzing data to identify student learning goals
In consultation with classroom teachers and student support team, create individualized learning plans for students who need additional support, document student progress, and update learning goals
Collaborate with middle and upper school teachers and department chairs to ensure K-12 curriculum alignment
In collaboration with classroom teachers and student support team, coordinate and communicate regularly with parents and guardians and outside service providers
Work closely with the lower school leadership and admissions teams to present to prospective parents and assess prospective students when needed
Serve as a resource to parents and guardians
Facilitate a lower school math club
Support the writing and editing of progress reports
Complete supervisory duties as assigned

Extensive lower school teaching experience in grades K-4 with a strong track record of learning outcomes for a diverse student population
Master’s degree in early childhood/ elementary education preferably with a concentration in mathematics education or a degree in special education
Experience with lower school social-emotional learning and a deep appreciation for student-centered, inquiry-based, and culturally responsive teaching practices
Knowledge of and experience with effective math curriculum design, documentation, and implementation
Experience as an instructional coach supporting teachers’ pedagogical and professional growth
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A collaborative, team-focused approach to teaching and learning
High emotional intelligence and a sense of humor

SALARY RANGE
Starting Salary Range: $75,000 to $105,000 (salary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise)
