The Science Teacher delivers instruction in scientific concepts and practices, helping students understand the natural world through observation, experimentation, and critical thinking. This role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a classroom environment that promotes curiosity and problem solving.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with assigned course curriculum.
Integrate demonstrations, experiments, and real-world scientific applications to deepen students' understanding of course concepts.
Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and materials to ensure they are safe, functional, and ready for use.
Instruct students in the safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and standard lab procedures.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogues and intellectual curiosity.
Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
Assess and evaluate students’ understanding through classroom discussions, assignments, and tests.
Participate in school-wide events, including religious services, retreats, and other faith-based activities.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years of secondary science teaching experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
Strong understanding of science curriculum, with preference given to candidates able to teach multiple disciplines (biology, chemistry, physics).
Ability to engage and motivate students of all skill levels.
Proficient in email communication, word processing, and presentation software, including tools within Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Apple iPad.
This position requires a background check, and the employee must complete the Safe Environment Training course offered through the Archdiocese of Louisville. The course must be completed within 30 days of employment.
