Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range for this position, starting at $51,000 annually for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and no prior teaching experience. Salary is commensurate with degree and years of teaching experience.

The Middle School Math Teacher facilitates engaging mathematics lessons for sixth, seventh and eighth graders using a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs, mentors students as their teacher and character educator, and collaborates with faculty and parents meaningfully. Primary Responsibilities
Teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes, including daily lesson planning, regular pretesting, and backwards design of units (utilizes the Understanding by Design curriculum framework)
Differentiates for multiple levels within each class
Communicates with the Learning Engagement Center about student needs and push-in/pull-out services
Serves as a resource for Lower School teachers in their curriculum design and instruction
Helps organize the administration of standardized testing and analyzes the data for trends; makes decisions about instruction and specific student intervention in response to the data
Assesses student understanding and skill level using rubrics and a proficiency scales
Follows the curriculum with pacing and student engagement in mind, as well as supplements the eighth grade curriculum with Algebra 1 Common Core standards
Meets and communicates with students and parents regarding student growth
Participates in weekly faculty meetings
Assesses students in their approaches to learning
Creates and edits unit plans for each unit of study
Participates in yearly goal-setting and frequent one-on-one meetings with supervisor
Reflects on teaching and learning regularly and improves practice
Completes the required portfolio, including walkthroughs, school visits, reflections, and goal-setting
Attends conferences (could include Math in Focus, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics)
Participates in and contributes to weekly and yearly professional development sessions
Communicates timely and effectively with students, parents, and administration
Engages in professional learning experiences that support school initiatives
Actively collaborates with colleagues across levels and departments to support the implementation of school-wide initiatives
Participates in various committee meetings, faculty and parent meetings, and professional development
Supports Middle School activities by chaperoning social events and trips

Minimum Qualifications
Student of Christian Science preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required in Math or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
Teaching certification preferred (required within two years of hire date).
Relevant teaching experience with middle school students.
