Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori-plus School located in Scituate, MA that serves over 300 students from 20 South Shore towns and is deeply rooted in Montessori, child-centered, and inclusive educational practices. Position Overview:
Inly School seeks a warm, patient, and collaborative Lead Toddler Teacher to guide a Montessori Toddler classroom serving children ages 18 months–3 years. The Lead Teacher plays a central role in creating and sustaining a safe, nurturing, and thoughtfully prepared environment where toddlers can develop independence, language, coordination, and social-emotional skills. This role includes leading all aspects of classroom practice, partnering closely with an assistant teacher, and building strong, trusting relationships with families.

In the Toddler House, children are treated with respect and dignity, with a strong emphasis on developing independence, language, motor coordination, self-care skills, and a sense of belonging. The Lead Teacher is responsible for designing and maintaining the prepared environment, observing and responding to each child’s development, and guiding the daily rhythm of the classroom. Learning occurs through purposeful movement, repetition, hands-on exploration, and responsive adult guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with assistant teacher daily, and with colleagues more generally to design and continuously improve the academic program in alignment with Inly School strategic objectives and our Montessori core values. Curriculum responsibilities include comprehensive, age appropriate instruction and delivery of a Montessori curriculum.
Create and maintain a prepared environment that is well ordered, clean, inviting, encourages student exploration and growth, and facilitates each student’s growing concentration and independence.
Observe and evaluate each child’s individual progress and use those observations to record and plan future lessons that are developmentally and academically appropriate for each student.
Invest in the whole child understanding that meeting the emotional needs of each student is a primary task of the Montessori educator with a proven understanding of and sensitivity to the developmental attributes of the Toddler House student.
Qualities of an Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor's Degree
Montessori Credentials
Minimum three years teaching experience
Desire to collaborate and contribute to a progressive school environment
An understanding of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy, as well as an interest in current educational research and innovative practices (Montessori training available for qualified candidates)
A demonstrated ability to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment and a commitment to anti-bias teaching practices.
Salary and Benefits:
Inly School offers competitive pay and benefits. The annualized salary for this position is $52,000 to $60,000, commensurate with experience.
