Review students’ neuropsychological testing to ensure a holistic, supportive, and strength-based approach to each student’s experience.
Conduct structured, goal-oriented, individual, small, and/or large group counseling sessions to assist students in exploring, interpreting, and developing personal decision-making competencies, to enhance self-esteem and self-understanding to ensure they are able to fully and successfully engage in their school program and life outside of school.
Respond to students' needs in the moment when a student is experiencing an unwanted emotion.
Make referrals to appropriate specialists, either at school or an outside agency.
Coordinate and communicate with the School Directors, Social Emotional Academic Development Coordinators and Director, other Mental Health Counselors, and/or additional Support Staff.
Facilitate and promote Restorative Practices, including clearing and restorative conversations.
Attend team meetings and Impact Response and Success Meetings for students to support students, the school, and families.
Collaborate with the students' team (student, faculty, family) to aid in the reduction of unexpected behaviors.
Meet/Communicate with parents and faculty.
Observe students to provide feedback about best practices to enhance student learning, engagement, and social skills.
Promote Professional Development and Growth of faculty to ensure best practices in teaching and research-based educational knowledge support students’ wellbeing
Lead wellness activities and social groups for students.
Consult with colleagues to develop initiatives on anti-bullying, mental health, digital citizenship, diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging.
Collaborate with colleagues to create, update, and aid in implementing the SEAD (Social-Emotional Academic Development) program.
Teach lessons as needed to support teacher and student growth.
Monitor and address all matters of school climate and culture.
Keep up to date with current educational trends and best practices by attending workshops and through partnerships.
Attend School Student Talk meetings.
Support Parent-Teacher and CEP (Chartwell Education Plan) conferences.
Valid California Credential or License:
Must possess and maintain at least one of the following valid, current California credentials or professional licenses:
PPS (Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling or School Social Work),
LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker),
LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).
Education:
Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Clinical & Counseling Expertise:
Proven experience conducting structured, goal-oriented individual and group counseling sessions, as well as providing in-the-moment emotional de-escalation and crisis response.
Understanding of Neurodiversity:
Deep understanding of neurodiversity, language-based learning differences, and evidence-based instructional/behavioral practices.
Assessment Familiarity:
Ability to review and interpret students' neuropsychological testing to inform holistic, strength-based support strategies.
Restorative Practices:
Familiarity with or training in Restorative Practices, including facilitating clearing and restorative conversations.
Collaboration & Communication:
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative leadership skills to effectively partner with students, faculty, families, and outside specialists.

A strong commitment to student-centered, mission-driven education in an inclusive and diverse community.
